It's Hammer Time

This week the boys' buddy, Weston, turned 2. He had a tool birthday party and the boys loved it. The highlight was when they used real nails to hammer together a little wooden car. James has been talking about it continuosly. He kept telling everyone that now he was a real builder and asking, "Daddy, when can I do some more real building?'
So this morning, Aaron and the boys walked down to Vans, our neighborhood hardware store, and got some real tools, for the real builders. Even though I knew
this was the plan, I was a little suprised when I saw the hammers they came home with. They seemed pretty big. And heavy. And with sharp claws on the end. They seemed perfect for doing damage to someone's finger, head, eye.....a window, the list could go on forever. "Don't worry," Aaron assured me, "they've got safety glasses."
In the end, James did pound his finger a few times, but the pain was a small price to pay for the chance to be a real builder. Boy were they proud to show me their real airplanes, that they made out of real wood, with real nails and real hammers. It was a really good day.

I love this story, nothing like REAL tools to hurt yourself REAL bad. But that is how REAL good memories are made!
Tim has hade so many REAL tools in his life time, and some we wish my dad would have not given him but he has survived and become very tool savvey. Who knows maybe the next Bob Vela? haha! Keep up the fun training! I give Aaron kudos for getting them not only huge hammers but those safty goggles are awesome!
