Getting Ready For School

We bought some new art supplies today for the start of school next week.
But we couldn't wait to try them out.

We tried water colors.

Pastels.

And water color pencils.
They were all so much fun.
Giving them real tools, something beyond fat Crayola markers, made a big difference.
We spent over an hour at the table together drawing and painting.
It was bliss.

James asked, "can we do this everyday?"
And people wonder why I want to home school.
I think I'd be missing out on a lot.

.............................................................................................................
I know many of you have already started school, but to me Labor Day always marks the beginning of the school year.  Since I have school on the brain, I am going to be sharing a series of posts I have had in the cue for a while now.  They are all about the various and sundry ways we do school around here.
Be forewarned, if you are not a home schooler, these posts might drive you crazy.
If you are a home schooler, these posts might drive you crazy.
Or you might just think I'm crazy.
Either way, come along for some back to school fun.
Love from,
Greta

So fun! Labor Day means the beginning of school for me too, but we've ended up starting early the last two years...just because it's so hot and humid and we don't want to be outside anymore. :) We also take a lot of vacations later on in the year so this gives us more wiggle room.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your homeschool posts! :)

The real supplies really do make a difference. It looks like you got all the same supplies as us, except we didn't get pastels, we might have to go back for those! Can't wait for the homeschooling posts, bring them on!

I LOVE hearing about your home schooling!! You are an amazing teacher and nurturer of young minds and I want to go to your school.
Looks like James has inherited his Daddy's talent for art! I want a print of that leaf. It's so cool and stylized!
